Ohmees is a residential design studio working with homeowners across Texas, Tennessee, and North Carolina, Ontario, British Columbia and Nova Scotia who are ready to build. We take on a small number of projects at a time, and every one starts in the same place: your site, your program, and what you actually want to live in.
We are not a traditional architecture firm. We don't hand you a catalogue and ask you to pick. We study your land first the topography, the orientation, the access — and design around what is already there. The result is a home that belongs where it sits and works the way you live.
Why we exist
Most homeowners planning a custom build run into the same problem. They find a designer who produces something beautiful but disconnected from their site, their budget, or how they actually use a home. The drawings look impressive. The build comes in over cost. The finished house doesn't feel quite right.
We started Ohmees because we believed homeowners deserved a design partner who takes the brief seriously before picking up a pencil. Every layout decision we make is grounded in how your household moves through space, what your land allows, and what your budget can sustainably support. Good design here means a home you want to be in every single day not just one that photographs well.

Every project starts with the land. Orientation, topography, and access inform the layout before any aesthetic decisions are made. A home should belong where it sits.
Budget discipline from day one
We talk about cost at the beginning, not after the drawings are done. Your budget is a design constraint, not an afterthought and we treat it that way throughout.
Who we work with
Our clients come to us at different stages and for different reasons, but they share one thing: they have land, or are close to having it, and they want to design something worth building.
Some are putting down roots a primary residence designed around how their household actually lives, in a location they have chosen deliberately. Others are building a retreat: a mountain home, a lake house, or a forest escape that becomes the place the family comes back to year after year. And some are building with returns in mind a short-term rental on a site with strong market fundamentals, where design quality is the difference between average occupancy and a high-performing asset.
Whatever the brief, our process is the same. We start with your site, build around your program, and deliver drawings that are ready to build from. The end use shapes the decisions we make along the way it doesn't change our commitment to getting them right.
